Driving Lessons in Feltham

We are a recommended Feltham driving school established over 12 years offering good quality driving tuition. Our instructors are all registered with the Driving Standards Agency and are members of the Driving Instructors Association. Our driving instructor in Feltham is very familiar with the local roads and those around the nearest test centre.

Feltham lies at the south east corner of Heathrow and covers the area down to its southern border with Sunbury and Hampton. To the west is Ashford and Staines. Other locations within Feltham include East Bedfont and Hanworth. Feltham is perhaps best known for its Young Offenders Institution which is accessed from Bedfont Road to the west. The town centre is served by the High Street; a direct link from Ashford, it cuts north east to the A315 Staines Road and the A312.

Feltham Driving Schools will be hard pressed to find suitable areas in the town centre and may need to move to quieter and wider roads for the early driving lesson in Feltham. Buckingham Road and its adjacent roads in Hampton could be useful for introductory driving lessons. Raleigh Road off Bedfont Road to the east is a wide road. Even with parked cars on both sides in their designated parking areas, there is enough space to cover the controls of the car and begin the moving away and stopping exercise. It is a dead end and limited but there are roads to the east and a circuit could be developed by Feltham driving instructors via Vernon Road and the junctions in between. The adjoining roads are much narrower though and the Feltham driving lesson will have to be carried out with care to avoid any additional pressure on the new pupil.

JUNCTION EXERCISES

As the driving schools in Feltham develop their pupils beyond the basic junction exercises, there are more open roads in the area. Browells Lane, with industrial estates and the Leisure West Centre, offers a clear run to a three way roundabout. Taking Forest Road the Feltham Driving School can continue with roundabouts to Felthambrook Way and Poplar Way. These roads are great for dealing with roundabouts and getting the pupil used to giving way to the right. Opposite Hanworth Park off Elmwood Avenue, Fernside Road and Clifton Road are narrow roads with residents parking on both sides of the road. They have taken to parking half on the kerb by general concensus. There are no parking bays designated to allow this, but the roads are so narrow the emergency services would otherwise have difficulty accessing the locality.

Castle Way leads to Sunbury Way and in the shadow of the A316 flyover driving instructors in Feltham can turn into Shakespeare Way. This leads to a cul-de-sac where there are a couple of roads for teaching the reverse to the left. Probably best to cover the turn in the road beforehand just in case there are parked cars blocking the turnings and an applied three point turn at the end may be necessary.

Moving on to Felthamhill Road the speed limit increases to 40mph and is a great opportunity to give the learner driver a run at the faster speed using 4th gear. It is shortlived coming to a mini roundabout at Groveley Road and Sunbury Road. The road ahead, Hamilton Road takes the Feltham driving instructor into a 20mph zone and traffic calming humps. The three roads Hamilton, Cranleigh and Ellington are good for meeting traffic. Quiet but enough local residents to offer a challenge! The driving instructor Feltham can access Chertsey Road either dropping south towards the A308 or emerging right and heading to Lower Feltham and pick up the High Street into the town centre.

The High Street by the shopping centre gives ground to bus lanes and is limited to a single lane each way. The shopping centre and its car park fortunately are off the High Street, so congestion is only limited by the single lanes. Driving over the station bridge, the only way to get to the other side of the station is to take the sharp left turn into New Road and this leads directly to Bedfont Lane.

If the driving tuition in Feltham continues with a right turn into Tachbrook Road, the lesson can continue to Burns Avenue. Tachbrook Road has cushions spread in threes across the road to reduce the speed of cars and there is also a priority width restriction. Turn right and Shakespeare Avenue is a dead end; wide with enough spaces between parked cars for the turn in the road and reverse park exercises. The Feltham driving instruction can continue to the main Staines Road and a right turn will take the driving school car to North Feltham and on to Hounslow.
