Colliers Wood is a mainly residential area with a busy high street in the borough of Merton in south west London and shares a postcode with nearby Wimbledon (SW19). It is situated on the A24, with Streatham and Clapham Common to the north and Morden to the south. It is overlooked by the Colliers Wood Tower. Originally the headquarters of a property company, which has now been repurposed as residential apartments.
Our locally based driving instructors have extensive knowledge of the area, and in particular the areas used by the different test centres where local candidates will be examined on their new skills.
The nearest driving test centres to Colliers Wood are: Mitcham (2.46 miles), Morden (2.8 miles) and Croydon (3.25 miles) and your lesson location will vary according to where you are taking your test to allow you to become familiar and confident on the roads you will be driving on the day of your test!
The quieter residential areas of Colliers Wood provide an ideal place to begin driving and allow you to get to grips with clutch control, manoeuvering your vehicle and reversing around corners. Once you are comfortable with the basics, the high street will provide valuable experience of driving in traffic. Further along the A24, there are busy roundabouts and dual carriageway roads for more experienced learners to negotiate.
For more experienced learners, lessons will focus on learning to negotiate hazards, such as driving in traffic, mastering residential roads with stationary parked vehicles on both sides and parking in tight spaces. You will also get to practice driving confidently on rural roads, which may have steep hills or bends which need to be taken carefully, yet competently in order to satisfy the examiner.
Once you have a test date, your Hamilton instructor will help you refine your driving and become familiar with the test locality so you can impress the examiner during your driving test.
