TEST CENTRES
There are three driving test centres close by: Tolworth (5.16 miles); Sutton (6.06miles) and Morden (5.44 miles) and your driving instructor will ensure you have the necessary experience in whichever area you will take your test. In addition, there are several other test centres within a 10-mile radius of the town, so you have a wide choice.
Ashtead’s main thoroughfare, The Street, is the oldest part of the village and has many historical and listed buildings. Other main roads nearby are Craddocks Avenue, Barnett Wood Lane and Woodfield lane. The quiet residential streets leading from these provide a relatively traffic-free area in which to master the basics of driving, while the nearby A243, which runs parallel to the M25 for a couple of miles, provides plenty experience of large, busy roundabouts and fast dual carriageway driving.
Once your test date and location have been confirmed, your instructor can arrange for you to do a practice test in the relevant area. This practice run may include some of the roads and hazards you will encounter during the test itself, so you can be confident you possess all the necessary skills and knowledge to pass first time!
