Intensive Driving Lessons from hamilton driving school
Structured lessons for New Drivers
Hamilton is a long-established driving school and we take care to ensure every aspect of your driving lessons are as comfortable and beneficial as possible. You can choose your instructor, your type of car (manual or automatic), when you would like lessons, where you would like to be picked up from and whether you would like a friend or family member in the car with you.
Our aim is for you to pass your driving test as soon as possible but although we will challenge you to improve with each lesson, you will not be pushed. Steady progress is required for you to feel comfortable driving and acquire skills that will last you for the rest of your life.
Once lessons are underway, we will evaluate you and let you know when we think you should aim to take your test. We can help you with all aspects of booking your theory and hazard perception test, and you practical driving test. Once your practical test has been booked, we recommend that you use the same car that you have been learning in so that everything is familiar as possible for the actual test.
Learning to drive is a fun but sometimes daunting experience so our driving instructors are trained and experienced to help you progress, no matter how much experience you already have.
The initial drive with your driving instructor will be in a quiet residential area to allow you to get used to a different car. At the same time, we can assess the standard reached so far and work out a programme to take you forward. So from previous experience to the new should be a smooth transition and further progress can develop naturally.
Our driving instructors are calm and patient, allowing you to progress with your driving skills in a relaxed environment. You can visit our instructors page to see profiles of each of our driving instructors or visit our recommendations page for testimonials from previous pupils.

It seems as if you have forgotten everything. We are here to help. You have the skills hidden in the back of your mind and we can bring them out again.
We will begin as if you have never driven before and take you forward at a pace you find comfortable. After a few lessons you will have the confidence to get back on the road again on your own.
We offer in car theory training on a one to one basis. This can be very helpful if you suffer with learning difficulties or dyslexia. Learning theory and having practical driving lessons at the same time is the best way forward as one helps develop the other. The driving theory test puts you through your paces, examining whether you understand the various types of road signs, traffic law, what to do in various situations on the road and your knowledge of speed limits. It is a compulsory part of learning to drive and many people struggle to pass this on their first attempt. We can help you with this by offering guidance including recommending online learning resources and apps that include example multiple choice tests. This will build up your knowledge and give you the confidence to pass and take your test.
Motorway driving is restricted to qualified license holders under present legislation. It is included as one of the modules for PassPlus once you have passed you driving test. If you prefer, motorway lessons can be covered as an individual topic. Normally the instruction is arranged as a two-hour lesson to allow for getting to and from the nearest motorway.

People from all over the world come to the United Kingdom to work. The rules of the road in the UK may be different from the driving practices in other countries. People who come to the UK to work and stay longer than one year have to get a British driving licence.
While tourists, immigrants and people from other countries know how to drive a car, they really need driving instruction to prevent accidents and reduce the cost of any car insurance they may have while in the UK. The top complaint of any visitor to the UK is that we drive on the wrong side of the road to which we politely respond that others drive on the wrong side of the road!
Visitors to the UK need to take these steps with the assistance of a driving instructor and driving lessons in the UK.
Type of car You need to decide what type of car you will be driving while in the UK. Telling the instructor the model of car and the type of gear shift allows the instructor to adapt the training to your needs. You learn more quickly and experience less frustration.
Your time frame The instructor needs to know the period of time that you plan on being in the UK. This allows the driving instructor to tailor the lessons appropriately. People who plan on being in the UK for longer than a year will need preparation for taking the driving test.
Your schedule Driving instructors need to know when you are available for training. This knowledge not only allows the instructor to prepare for you but gives you the flexibility to fit the needs of driving instruction into you busy schedule of work and acclimation to your new life in the UK.
Your driving experience A driving instructor needs to know the level of experience that you have driving a vehicle. This allows the instructor to plan the most efficient course of instruction that prepares you to drive safely.
Your country of origin The instructor needs to know the country that you come from. This allows the instructor to plan a smooth transition for you to be fully competent in driving in the UK.
Language barriers Your driving instructor must know if you are not fluent in English. Accommodations can be made to include a translator in your course of driving instruction provided that you supply the translator and pay for their service of necessary. Extra precautions may need to be taken if a second person will be in the vehicle during the training.
Driving lessons for people who are not residents of the UK is not mandatory but it provides the assurance of safety and the preparation for obtaining a UK driving licence.
