INSTRUCTORS
A Driving Instructor's Story

We are, subject to demand, looking for a local driving instructor to help meet the demand for our services. Our terms are generous and designed to encourage a long term working relationship.

The franchise is introduced in stages and tailored to suit the instructor individually. Following the introductory period the maximum sum due is equivalent to only three hours instruction per week

This will not increase in the foreseeable future even though lesson prices will rise over time. There is an annual service award (discretionary) and four weeks leave (franchise free) is included.

Membership of Driving Instructors Association is free and included without charge on commencement.

A training vehicle with dual controls can be arranged. The cost is subject to the leasing terms.

We expect honesty and integrity for our full support. Any monies paid to you direct are your responsibility and must be accountable.

We are anticipating an increase in demand for our services in the current year. A regularly upgraded website and search engine optimisation will ensure a lot of interest. Our advertising has a high profile and linking this to “www.checkatrade.com” will encourage even more enquiries.

Marketing

Any discounts offered to attract enquiries are paid for by the school – not the instructor. Submit a list and you will be reimbursed in full.

Contract

There isn't one. If you decide to leave for any reason at anytime you will be free to go. Your pupils are yours to keep if they wish to stay with you. There will be no charge or penalty.

Trainee Instructor (PDI)

Currently we have no trainee instructors at Hamilton School of Motoring. All of our instructors are fully qualified.

The problem with trainee instructors is lack of supervision. Throughout the industry, there is a tendency for driving schools to let them get on with it and learn by their mistakes. Unfortunately the customer, i.e the pupil, is at the receiving end and the Driving Standards Agency has allowed this systemic bad practise to continue unabated for years.

If a supervising trainer is not present then problems like route selection and giving the new driver too much to do for their level of competence arise. The trainee instructor may well be an experienced driver, but their reaction times to be “ahead of the game” are nowhere near developed enough for a safe driving lesson.

Until the Driving Standards Agency accept their responsibility and co-ordinate a proper training programme with monitored supervision, we will no longer accept trainees.
