All our instructors are registered with the Driving and Vehicle Standards Association (DVSA), and are members of the Driving Instructors Association. We also belong to Checkatrade, which means we have to show we meet the highest standards of professionalism and best practice. Furthermore, we personally ensure all our instructors are friendly, patient, and will put you at your ease –particularly if you are nervous or have never driven before.

Southfields is around six miles from central London, and is bordered by Wimbledon, Putney and Earlsfield. The main A3 road runs to the south and west of Southfields, and the area is bordered to the west by the A218 and to the east by the A219. Southfields has many Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses, and is home to the distinctive art nouveau ‘Nourish & Flourish’ factory (now flats) on Standen Road.

There are two main residential areas, known as ‘The Grid’ and the ‘Southfields Triangle’, which will most probably used for your initial lessons, as the quiet streets allow students to develop confidence in controlling the car.

PREPARING FOR YOUR TEST

Once you have mastered the basics, it is time for you to develop skills such as hazard perception, driving at slow speeds in traffic and manoeuvers such as reversing around corners, hill starts, parallel parking and three-point turns. Your driving instructor will also help by giving you practice on the type of roads you will need to do this on during the test, so you can be confident that nothing you will be examined on is beyond your capabilities.

Finally, you will need to gain confidence on busy roads, including fast dual carriageways busy multi-exit roundabouts. The A3 trunk toad is perfect for getting this kind of experience.

Your driving instructor will ensure you are competent in all the techniques listed above before you take your test, and will also help you understand what the examiner will be looking for on the day.

The nearest test centres to Southfields are Morden (4.1 miles), Mitcham (4.62 miles) and Sutton (5.16 miles) and your lessons will give you driving experience in all these areas. If you already know where you will be taking your test, your lesson can be tailored to a particular locality, so you will be familiar and confident on the roads you will be driving on during your test.
